Bio Partner Schweiz AG, Seon/AG, is now relying on robot logistics to optimize efficiency in its large warehouse. Swisslog designed the system and doubled its capacity.

With a full range of more than 10,000 products in a warehouse of 12,200 m2 and 25,000 boxes in the automated compact warehouse, Bio Partner supplies business customers in the specialist organic trade and other retail and catering sectors from its site in Seon. Due to the merger with Somona GmbH, the warehouse location in Seon reached its performance and capacity limits, which could be remedied with the automated AutoStore warehouse system. "Companies with large warehouses must constantly work on increasing efficiency and our robot systems work flawlessly around the clock," says Swisslog CEO, Dr. Christian Baur. The aim of this new system from Swisslog is to automate the storage and picking of dry goods and to compress volumes.

The new AutoStore system at Bio Partner now has 44 robots that can handle 25,000 containers and at least 6,000 products completely autonomously. "The high-tech robots can handle a volume of 900 containers per hour and, depending on developments, this system can still be greatly expanded," says Swisslog CEO, Dr. Baur. The orders are automatically transmitted to the AutoStore system and processed in coordination with parallel processes, which is a decisive advantage for large warehouses. This means that higher volumes can be provided in less time. Errors in order picking cost time and money, and robots do not make mistakes, provided the hardware and software are a perfect match. Bio Partner relies on the modular warehouse management software SynQ from Swisslog to orchestrate the warehouse and picking processes based on data.

"Our company relies on long-term, sustainable partnerships. In Swisslog, we have found a strong local partner. The installation of the system was quick and easy," says Lukas Mettler, Head of Warehouse Logistics at Bio Partner.
