Klinkhammer builds modern automated warehouse for pharmacies for Apologistics

With its new, fully automated logistics center in Duiven, the Netherlands, Apologistics GmbH, the third largest mail-order pharmacy in Germany, is once again setting an example. It is Europe's most modern automated warehouse for pharmacies. The intralogistics specialist Klinkhammer supplied, integrated and digitalized the entire material flow from the automated warehouse via modern picking robot technology through to automated dispatch.

Apologistics includes brands such as Apo-discounter.de and .pl, apo.com, Deutscheinternetapotheke.de, Apotheke.de and .at, Apolux.de, Versandapo.de and Juvalis.de. Apologistics supports its pharmacies with more than 100,000 products, from the storage and provision of goods to order picking and same-day delivery.

Thanks to the high storage capacity and automated picking using robot piece picking, every order can be dispatched quickly and reliably on the same day while complying with the prescribed pharmaceutical safety requirements. Robot piece picking not only increases picking accuracy, but also efficiency, especially with batch size 1. The modern material flow control and warehouse management software from Klinkhammer are crucial here. All processes, with the exception of quality assurance, are fully automated and enable safe, personnel-free working in the sensitive pharmaceutical sector. A comparable manual distribution center of this size with the highest delivery quality would require more than 400 employees. Apologistics manages with a tenth of the workforce in its new logistics center.
