De Bondt BV opts for Vanderlande
Vanderlande has supplied De Bondt BV, a global wholesaler of haberdashery and yarns, with a highly automated fast-pick goods-to-person (GtP) solution.
The system, which incorporates the innovative ADAPTO shuttle technology, was installed in the company's existing warehouse in Tynaarlo (Netherlands) and went live in September. The family-owned company, known for its Scheepjes brand, supplies retailers and resellers in more than 70 countries worldwide and is expecting strong growth. To meet the increasing demand, De Bondt BV opted for a flexible and scalable solution that increases picking and packing efficiency while reducing the likelihood of errors. With Fastpick, De Bondt BV is ready for the future.
A large part of De Bondt BV's warehouse is automated with Vanderlande's shuttle-based storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) ADAPTO. The system delivers the order lines in multiple containers in a strict sequence to the ergonomic picking stations. As a result, De Bondt BV now has a higher storage density of over 20,000 locations, which enables a picking performance of up to 1,200 items per hour at peak times.
The packaging process is automated with a case erector, packing list inserter, case sealer and labelers, allowing operators to pick orders directly into the cases in a single-touch process. This picking method also minimizes the shipping volume and reduces the need for additional filling of the cartons by staff.
