BigBag S5 pallet
Pallet for the circular economy
The energy drink manufacturer Red Bull can transport its raw materials more sustainably with Cabka, a specialist in reusable transport packaging made from recycled plastic. Thanks to the BigBag S5 pallet developed by Cabka, Red Bull's supply chain is now more efficient and environmentally friendly.
The main feature of Cabka's BigBag S5 pallet is its special design, which is tailored to the transportation of big bags - also known as Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs). The decisive advantage: the FIBCs can be stacked on top of each other without damaging their fabric. This allows Red Bull to significantly reduce the freight volume for sea transportation. Thanks to the special size of the BigBag S5 pallet and the big bag, the company makes full use of the space in a 20-foot container. This reduces container handling by 20 percent, which makes overseas transportation significantly more sustainable.
Previously, Red Bull used disposable wooden pallets and 40-foot containers to transport its energy drink ingredients to the US market. The loading capacity of these containers could not be optimally utilized. Thanks to Cabka's new pallet solution and the switch to 20-foot containers, Red Bull can now both save costs and achieve its sustainability goals.
Reusable solution
Red Bull uses the BigBag S5 pallet as a reusable solution, establishing an efficient closed-loop system between its sites in Austria and the USA. This approach minimizes waste and environmental impact. At the end of its life cycle, Cabka can recycle the BigBag S5 pallet and thus make a further contribution to the circular economy.
Cabka's expertise in the processing of recycled plastic lies in its innovation center in Valencia, Spain. There, the company integrates product design, materials engineering and testing capabilities. Cabka's team works closely with customers such as Red Bull to develop innovative solutions that meet their specific requirements.
Pallet can be 100 percent recycled
The BigBag S5 pallet, measuring 1,150 x 950 x 150 millimetres, is reusable and made from recycled plastic. It can be 100 percent recycled and sets new standards in terms of stability and durability. The pallet improves handling and protects big bags during transportation, which also protects the valuable contents. Other product features include high stability during block stacking, compatibility with roller conveyors, a four-way entrance and a deck design that centers the load and increases stability during transport.
The collaboration between Red Bull and Cabka is exemplary for the industry, which relies on innovative packaging solutions, reusable load carriers and recycling. With this partnership, the two partners want to drive positive change and pave the way for more sustainable logistics.
