Improved transparency and traceability

Jarek Maciążek, President of EPAL, explains: "A common problem in goods and pallet logistics is the lack of transparency and traceability of pallet movements. Manual recording is inefficient and can lead to losses of pallets and goods. The EPAL Pallet App is a quick way for companies to digitize their logistics processes, especially in combination with the EPAL Euro Pallet QR. The combination of the EPAL Pallet app and the QR code on the pallet makes intralogistics transparent and efficient and enables the tracking of goods and pallets in transport and goods logistics."

The mobile web app makes it easier for warehouse and shipping staff to record EPAL pallets in goods receipt, book empty pallets for inventory management and create new tracking orders. The dashboard provides logistics staff with an overview of all orders and the stock of EPAL pallets at the company's internal locations. Digital stock planning and automatic notification when stock levels fall below the minimum level ensure that all locations are supplied with EPAL pallets. The quality of the used EPAL pallets can also be recorded via the mobile web app. Paper-based processes are reduced and may be completely eliminated in the future.

Continuous further development planned

The functions of the EPAL Pallet app are limited to the central processes of pallet and goods logistics in order to make it easy to use and understand. Users of the EPAL Pallet app can create their locations and users after a short registration process and make full use of the application. Use of the EPAL Pallet app is free of charge until further notice. EPAL intends to continuously develop the app further, taking into account the feedback and wishes of users. The focus will be on the connection to the company's own IT systems, as well as the possibility of recording further information about pallets and goods.

Bernd Dörre, CEO of EPAL, explains: "The EPAL Pallet App is not intended to replace existing IT systems for users of EPAL pallets, but to supplement them with pallet management and tracking functions for pallets and goods. Existing processes and IT solutions are to be improved in order to make the use and exchange of EPAL pallets more effective. This also includes the continuous expansion and optimization of interfaces with users' IT systems and other software platforms. We invite all users of the EPAL Pallet App to share their experiences with us and tell us their wishes for further development."

Circular economy strengthened

The new EPAL Pallet app simplifies the use and exchange of EPAL pallets. This is intended to promote the reuse of EPAL pallets and thus the circular economy as a central element of the sustainability of the open EPAL pallet pool. The association's investment in the digitalization of the EPAL open pallet pool is therefore also an important part of EPAL's sustainability strategy. At the same time, the new app will also improve the functionality of the EPAL Euro pallet QR and the other EPAL pallets with QR code as digital load carriers.
