Lidl rolls out PAKi e-vouchers in Europe
Lidl has been introducing a digital pallet voucher, the PAKi e-voucher, at its central warehouses since November last year. The aim is to improve processes at the ramp and make pallet management more sustainable.
Instead of the traditional 1:1 euro pallet exchange, suppliers can receive a digital pallet voucher, the PAKi e-voucher, at all of the retailer's European central warehouses. The aim of the introduction is to offer suppliers and freight forwarders another option for a one-for-one pallet exchange and thus reduce waiting times at Lidl's central warehouses caused by pallet exchanges. The digital pallet voucher also makes an important contribution to Lidl's climate protection concept: "The introduction of the PAKi e-voucher gives our freight forwarders more flexibility. In addition, empty runs to unload the exchanged pallets can be avoided and transport routes shortened, which reduces CO2 emissions," says Christian Stangl, Lidl Managing Director Purchasing Logistics International. The PAKi e-voucher is valid for twelve months from the date of issue and is transferable to third parties. Once credited to the PAKi account, the account holder can benefit from the full range of PAKi pooling services in Europe.
