Germany's first e-commerce airline wants to take off

Sales in the e-commerce sector in Germany are growing strongly. Fast air freight solutions are needed so that online retailers can keep their promise to deliver within 24 hours. CargoLogic Germany (CLG), a new cargo airline that wants to focus on such express transports, is now in the starting blocks.

CLG Managing Director Dr. Ulrich Ogiermann presented the new airline at the latest Aircargo Club Deutschland (ACD) event in Frankfurt. The continuing online boom is expected to bring CargoLogic Germany, based at Leipzig/Halle Airport, full order books. Ogiermann explained at the current ACD event in Frankfurt: "We want to become Germany's leading express airline by offering our customers innovative and value-adding air freight solutions."

Air freight operator's certificate still pending
This should also strengthen Saxony as a business location and create jobs in Germany. However, the air freight operator's certificate required for the commencement of business activities is still pending from the Federal Aviation Office, but the company expects to receive this soon.

Strong fleet growth expected
In contrast to its sister airline from London, CargoLogicAir, CargoLogic Germany will not be taking off with Boeing 747 Fs, but with leased Boeing 737-400s. The fleet is expected to grow 10-fold by 2021.
