New cargo aircraft
DHL Express expands its fleet
DHL Express, provider of international express services, is putting six new Boeing 777F-200 cargo aircraft into service this year.
The first of the six aircraft to be delivered in 2020 landed at its new home airport in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) on February 20.
DHL ordered 14 new Boeing 777 freighters in 2018: four of the aircraft were delivered in 2019, six more will follow this year and the remaining four are scheduled to enter service in 2021. The aircraft were purchased as part of the modernization of DHL's intercontinental fleet.
Long range
The Boeing 777F is equipped with modern, fuel-efficient technology and, according to the company, has the longest range with a full payload compared to other wide-body freighters. This enables DHL to meet the growing demand for global express shipments and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
"We are delighted to be adding more Boeing 777 freighters to the DHL Express family this year," said John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express. "Modernizing our intercontinental fleet will allow us to better respond to the growing demand for global express capacity, improve our environmental footprint and deliver the highest quality of service to our customers. DHL has repeatedly distinguished itself with innovative solutions and technologies. We look forward to continuing to show our partners and customers how these advances are driving the entire express logistics industry forward. At the same time, this brings us closer to the goals of our Strategy 2025."
Strategy 2025
Among other things, DHL Express is focusing its Strategy 2025 on the e-commerce market for sustainable growth and "efficiency" to increase profitability. With a payload of 102 tons and a range of 9,200 kilometers, the B777F offers the highest capacity and range of all twinjet aircraft. It is also more fuel-efficient and reliable than older models. Compared to similar models, the B777F consumes significantly less fuel and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 18 percent. DHL Express operates a fleet of more than 260 aircraft and, together with 17 partner airlines, handles over 3,000 flights to 220 countries and territories every day.
