Sales figures 2nd quarter
Universal Robots continues to grow
Universal Robots (UR) increased its sales of collaborative robots by 75% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the second quarter of 2020. The Danish cobot pioneer based in Odense recorded growth in Europe, North America and China compared to both 2020 and the record year 2019.
The reasons for the high demand: the manufacturer has further expanded its portfolio in collaborative robotics and now offers the Cobot UR10e with a higher payload capacity, for example. In addition, the global economy has recovered after the pandemic year 2020 and with it Universal Robots' industrial automation business in other geographical regions.
"We are delighted to be able to offer companies of all sizes an easy and efficient entry into automation with our cobots. Our sales performance clearly demonstrates that we are responding exactly to the needs of our customers," says Kim Povlsen, President of Universal Robots (pictured).
The growth of Universal Robots contributed significantly to the increase in sales of the Industrial Automation division of the parent company Teradyne in the second quarter of 2021: This revenue increased by 57 percent year-on-year to USD 92 million and by 23 percent compared to the second quarter of 2019. The Industrial Automation division mainly comprises Universal Robots, but also smaller providers in the Autonomous Mobile Robots and Motion Control Software for Robots segments.
Universal Robots also expects double-digit sales growth in the third quarter of 2021 due to the continued strong demand for its robots that can work together with humans.
