SSI Schäfer supplies logistics center for tegut...
The Fulda-based food retailer tegut... has commissioned SSI Schäfer with the construction of a new logistics center in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, Hesse.
With around 290 supermarkets in Hesse, Thuringia and Bavaria as well as Göttingen, Mainz, Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg, tegut... is on a steady growth course. The new distribution center is being built in the "Hessisches Kegelspiel" logistics park in the heart of the tegut... catchment area and with good freeway access to the A7.
Thanks to SSI Schaefer's intralogistics automation technology, the tegut... stores, which have grown in number, can be supplied from here. The expanded product range over the years will find its place in the new logistics center. It also includes capacities for future growth. On a building area of 90,000 m², around 17,000 items will be stocked, handled and prepared for transportation at up to 130 dispatch gates.
SSI Schäfer will build an 8-aisle, automated high-bay warehouse for tegut... which offers space for approx. 38,000 Euro pallets. The racking layout was aligned with tegut...'s product range in terms of storage capacity and performance and divided into single and double-deep racks. As tegut... attaches great importance to sustainability, SSI Exyz storage and retrieval machines are used.
The automated small parts warehouse has a storage capacity of 85,000 bins. Picking from the five aisles and 26 levels is handled by a total of 15 lifts and 130 SSI Flexi Shuttles (pictured). SSI Schaefer's scope of supply also includes 73,000 storage containers, which store the products in the shuttle warehouse. These are used to transport the items to and from the picking stations.
Finally, appropriate conveyor technology for large and small load carriers connects the automated storage areas with the seven picking workstations, all of which meet modern ergonomic requirements. The Wamas logistics software is used to ensure that the processes in the logistics center function smoothly. Future growth has already been planned for in the system layout, so that extensions to the high-bay warehouse, shuttle warehouse and workstations are possible at a later date. Building construction will begin in summer 2021 and the go-live is planned for 2023.
