SSI Schäfer expands site in Giebelstadt
Intralogistics specialist SSI Schaefer continues to prepare for the future. A modern new building for the competence center in Giebelstadt takes account of the permanent growth of the company.
The ground-breaking ceremony has taken place - and in just a few months, the glass façade of the new competence center that SSI Schaefer is currently building in the i_Park Klingholz near Giebelstadt will be a prominent feature of the industrial estate from afar. The intralogistics specialist has been based there since 2000 and is growing steadily.
The location's core competence lies in the implementation of international turnkey systems paired with specialization in highly innovative, automated intralogistics solutions and the appropriate logistics software. With its extensive performance capabilities, the intralogistics specialist covers the entire value chain and develops versatile end-to-end solutions for its customers' industries. These include the French luxury label for leather goods Longchamp, whose internal material flows have been optimized by SSI Schaefer with a fleet solution with automated guided vehicles (AGVs), the beverage manufacturer Gerolsteiner, for whom one of the most modern compact warehouses in the beverage industry was built, and IKEA, for whom a state-of-the-art distribution center is currently being implemented at the Montreal site. At the same time, expert and research teams are concentrating on the further development of future technologies relating to robotics, AGVs and Industry 4.0 as well as on the specific challenges of individual market sectors.
"We are successfully implementing this strategy globally and thus achieving customer-specific product development as well as recognizing and reacting to new challenges at an early stage," said the management team consisting of Brigitte Thalmann, Peter Berlik and Peter Lambrecht. "In order to continue to develop and implement customized solutions with technological excellence, we have decided to strategically expand the Giebelstadt site. The expansion of the infrastructure with the new office complex, combined with the corresponding increase in jobs, is a decisive step in this direction."
Once completed in 2020, the new five-storey building with two building sections will offer space for 450 workstations plus meeting rooms on an office area of almost 7,000 m². With this modern building, SSI Schaefer is ideally equipped for further growth in the future.
