DB Schenker tests smart picking glasses and wearable

DB Schenker tested the use of Picavi data glasses at sites in Bremen and Rodgau and noticed improved productivity. The team in Rodgau also combined the solution with the ProGlove glove, which has an integrated scanner. This networked solution is now to be introduced as a standard procedure at several locations.

Xavier Garijo, Board Member for Contract Logistics at DB Schenker: "Here at DB Schenker, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our operations through efficiencies. The partnerships with Picavi and ProGlove are two of our recent success stories driving innovation in contract logistics. By introducing smart glasses and smart gloves into our warehouses, we are investing in our future as the supply chain partner of choice for companies worldwide."

Picavi uses Google Glasses to project information into the field of vision of warehouse employees. Hand scanners and paper documents no longer need to be held in the hand to read the information. As a result, employees have both hands free for their actual tasks. According to the company, the solution increases productivity and reduces the error rate at the same time.

ProGlove is an intelligent scanning glove that can be triggered simply by pressing a button on the glove. When using it, employees can use both hands for order picking, further increasing productivity. The ProGlove is already in use in the DB Schenker warehouse in Eching near Munich.
