Dagab Inköp & Logistik AB is investing in a new 37,000 square meter distribution center in Landskrona for the nationwide supply of fruit and vegetables to its stores. The Axfood subsidiary, which is responsible for the logistics processes and stores, is once again relying on a fully automated solution for processing standard containers with Fast Picking (Fully Automatic Standard Tray Picking) from Knapp.

The new distribution center includes depalletizing and stacking machines, the OSR Shuttle Evo picking and storage system, the Powerline pallet conveyor system and the Streamline container conveyor system, which links all system areas together. The efficiently designed processes enable Dagab to quickly assemble over 55,000 containers every day. "By using innovative technologies, the fully automated solution from Knapp creates an intelligent and modern flow of goods. Our aim is to continuously improve the service and exchange with our customers," says Nicholas Petterson, Managing Director of Dagab.

Automation increases capacity and flexibility
Fast Picking from Knapp compiles orders for store delivery quickly and in an optimized manner. Fully automated processes in incoming and outgoing goods ensure efficient and error-free order processing and relieve employees of physically strenuous tasks. The heart of the solution, the OSR Shuttle Evo, comprises six aisles and 14,000 storage locations for a wide range of articles.

Knapp's KiSoft software package forms the direct interface between the systems and Dagab's SAP system. It controls the entire order processing in the background. Thanks to the fast picking solution, Dagab can adapt the orders to the respective store layout. Overall, it leads to increased efficiency, capacity and flexibility. It also helps the company to cope with the increasing volume of orders.

The solution is designed in such a way that the system can be expanded in the event of future growth. Dagab and Knapp are thus laying the foundations for a logistics structure of the future. Renewed collaboration
Dagab is already using a Knapp fast picking solution at its Jönköping site. From the distribution center there, Dagab supplies 600 stores and smaller warehouses with fresh products. The new solution in Landskrona will be just as efficient as the one in Jönköping. It handles a wide range of items - from dairy products and meat products to fruit and vegetables.
