Aberle: Sophisticated solution for paper logistics
Aberle GmbH has implemented an automated logistics center at the Oberkirch site for paper producer August Koehler SE as the general contractor based on plans drawn up by consulting firm Luy & Partner GbR.
With intelligently designed material flows and system equipment and process control designed for maximum flexibility using the Aberle PMS process management system, a solution with a number of industry-specific features was implemented. These include a picking station for the manual compilation of order pallets that are not clean. Supported by vacuum layer lifters and pallet lifting tables, Koehler employees pick the required order items from source pallets onto target pallets. These are either buffered in the HBW or transferred to the outgoing goods department. "All in all, a well thought-out solution from a single source," summarizes Uhl: "Both the planning, which was closely coordinated with our project team in advance, and the implementation by Aberle, which was based on this, clearly met our expectations associated with the process and system automation. We were able to concentrate our warehousing and shipping, and thanks to the reliable components and control system, we are faster in order production. You can hardly expect more success from a project like this."
