"Tailor-made and scalable modernization concepts"
Elie Zita, SVP Business Unit Customer Services at SSI Schaefer, on the right strategy for warehouse modernizations.
material flow: Where and with what do you start when it comes to the idea of modernization? What advice do you have for the logistics managers among our readers?
Elie Zita: It starts with the construction and equipping of a logistics property, where we plan ahead with our customers. According to the motto 'Grow as you go!', as an intralogistics specialist we offer solutions that grow with the requirements and significantly extend the service life of the system. By planning for possible automation and expansions right from the start, we ensure the necessary scalability and flexibility with the greatest possible system and energy efficiency. Optimized processes through IT and software updates are also part of a modernization. Organizational and warehouse processes can be made even more efficient by replacing server and client hardware, updating the operating system or databases, for example. For systems that have been in operation for more than 15 years, different approaches and individual support are required. Our service account managers have the necessary experience and skills to advise customers with tailored and scalable modernization concepts from our broad service portfolio.
mfl: Which of your company's products or services is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of modernization?
Zita: With retrofit services, we bring systems up to the latest state of the art and equip them to meet the increasing demands of our customers. Depending on the initial situation, controlled by an efficient and transparent "Product Life Cycle Management", mechanical, electrical or control systems are renewed and systems are updated quickly and safely by replacing components, extensions or IT modernizations.
