Utility vehicles: Pema expands its fleet with commercial vehicles from Krone

Werlte/ Munich, 19.07.2017 - The Krone Commercial Vehicle Group and PEMA GmbH agreed on the delivery of various vehicle units at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich. PEMA and Krone have been working together for decades, and a total of 17,000 units have since been manufactured for the rental fleet at the Werlte, Herzlake and Lübtheen sites. The vehicles prove their worth every day in international freight transport. Dr. Bernard Krone and Ingo Geerdes, Head of Key Account Management, Krone Fleet & Krone Used, together with Peter Ström, CEO of PEMA GmbH, are delighted with the deal: "Mutual trust is not only reflected in the number of units sold, but also in stable and long-standing relationships. In the logistics and rental business, it is important to have reliable partners on your side."

PEMAPEMA GmbH is the specialist for truck and trailer rental in Europe. Based in Herzberg in the Harz region, the company has a fleet of 18,000 vehicles for rental. PEMA is active at twenty-five different locations in nine European countries.

In five decades, the Krone Group's annual sales volume has risen from around 8.5 million euros to just under 1.8 billion euros today. The Krone Group's main sales driver is commercial vehicles (Fahrzeugwerk Krone and subsidiaries) with a turnover of around 1.2 billion euros. Krone manufactured around 48,000 vehicle units (around 37,000 semi-trailers plus almost 11,000 swap systems) in the past financial year; Germany remained the strongest sales market with 30 percent, followed by Western Europe (41%) and Eastern Europe (27%).

The Krone Group employs around 4,300 people worldwide. The reason for the sharp increase in the number of employees is the expansion of the Krone Commercial Vehicle Group; currently around 2,500 employees work in the production of commercial vehicles at the sites in Werlte, Herzlake (both in Emsland/Lower Saxony), Dinklage (near Osnabrück), Lübtheen (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and Tire (Turkey).
