Iveco presented its new Iveco S-WAY heavy-duty vehicle for long-haul transportation convention in Madrid to its dealer network, vendors, customers and representatives of the international press. With the new Iveco WAY heavy-duty range, the company aims to achieve a strong shift towards providing an integrated and sustainable transportation solution, where the services around the product become more important than the product itself.

Driver focus, sustainability and connectivity
The Iveco S-WAY adds a new cabin tailored to the needs of the driver to the advances already introduced in previous generations. In the face of tough competition, logistics service providers demand the highest levels of availability, efficiency and productivity from their fleets. With the new Iveco S-WAY, the company aims to meet these requirements and also offers a comprehensive package of functions and services. The focus here is on driver orientation, sustainability and a new, extended level of connectivity to reduce the total cost of ownership.

New cab design
The design of the new cab is driver-centered with a spacious environment, driver ergonomics and a layout that combines functionality with comfort. The cab design also takes driver safety into account with its reinforced structure and significantly improved visibility. The new design optimizes aerodynamic performance and increases the vehicle's excellent fuel efficiency by up to 4%, according to the company.

The connected truck
Iveco wants to make life on board easier for drivers with extra connectivity: they can work efficiently thanks to advanced driver support and driving style feedback in combination with services via the user-friendly MyIveco EASY Way app. The Connectivity Box collects, processes and exchanges data in real time in the Iveco S-WAY. The associated service platform was developed together with Microsoft. Owners and drivers are constantly connected to the vehicle on their mobile device or PC via the MyIVECO portal and the app.

Concept trucks: Magirus and Fit Cab
On the occasion of the international launch of the new Iveco WAY range, Iveco presented two concept trucks: the new Iveco FIT CAB and Magirus. These two concepts are to be the subject of a joint working process involving drivers' wishes.

Gerrit Marx, President Commercial and Special Vehicles, explained: "We take a customer and driver-oriented approach to developing our products: they take part in our field tests and give us guidance with their findings and feedback. With these concepts, we want to develop these meaningful vehicles together with the drivers and owners and, above all, we want to involve them in a dialog about their task in order to tailor the next trucks precisely to their needs and wishes - trucks designed by the customer for the customer. "

Iveco will use the concepts to conduct a series of customer workshops at all races of the 2019 European Truck Racing Championship at the Nürburgring starting July 19.
