The six new container gantry cranes are being manufactured by the Irish manufacturer Liebherr Container Cranes. They are designed to handle large container ships with up to 24 rows of containers on deck. The total lifting height of the spreader is 70 meters and the load-bearing capacity of the load-bearing section is 66 tonnes. Each bridge has a dead weight of 2,100 tons. Final assembly of the gantry cranes will take place at the south end of the Bremerhaven container terminal. Once the individual bridge components have been assembled there, they are loaded onto a pontoon and shipped to Hamburg.

The delivery of all six bridges should be completed in the first half of 2020, subject to the further development of the coronavirus pandemic. From today's perspective, commissioning is planned for the beginning of the second half of 2020. With these new bridges, Eurogate is preparing for the ever-growing number of ships in the Port of Hamburg and is thus investing in the future viability of the location.
