Iveco delivers 65 S-Way LNG to Lithuania
Iveco has delivered 65 Iveco S-WAYs with LNG drive to the forwarding company Vlantana. The Lithuanian company has a fleet of 1,650 vehicles. The IVECO gas tractor units were chosen because of their environmental friendliness when running on LNG or bio-LNG.
Vladas Stončius, the founder of Vlantana, explains: "Our decision to switch part of the fleet to Iveco S-WAY with LNG propulsion is proof that we are convinced of the sustainable and environmentally friendly solution as well as the economic benefits. We rely on Iveco in our choice of vehicles so that we can offer our customers environmentally friendly transportation services. With our Iveco S-WAY LNG vehicles, we enjoy all the benefits of a truly sustainable and effective transportation solution with best-in-class total cost of ownership."
The purchase of the new Iveco S-WAY LNG is part of Vlantana's strategy. The company began converting its fleet to gas drive at an early stage, although there is still no filling station network in the country. Vlantana is thus not only demonstrating its commitment to environmentally friendly road freight transport, but is also playing a pioneering role in Lithuania, according to the company. The company is also planning to invest in Lithuania's first LNG filling station on its premises near Klaipėda, conveniently located on Lithuania's main highway.
In an initial phase, Vlantana is deploying the new LNG trucks on European routes with a corresponding network of filling stations. The European Union's "Green Deal" is leading to a strong focus by member states on sustainable transport solutions, which is rapidly increasing the number of filling stations on the most important transport routes. Vlantana's Iveco S-WAY LNG tractor units use these filling stations and benefit from the respective initiatives of the various countries, which contribute to the development of this sustainable fuel and at the same time to more sustainable road freight transport.
