Digital freight wagons: Cargo Wagon and Nexxiot cooperate
Nexxiot and the Slovakian freight wagon hire company Cargo Wagon are entering into a partnership. The aim of the collaboration is to drive forward the digital transformation of rail freight transport and develop new services for Cargo Wagon's customers. The cooperation also allows Nexxiot to expand its activities into Eastern Europe.
Pavel Holomek, COO of Cargo Wagon, says on the occasion of the cooperation: "The digitalization of rail freight transport has become a daily reality for most of our customers and thus a priority on our marketing agenda. We will work closely with Nexxiot to drive forward the maintenance of our wagons, fleet management and the provision of additional digital services for our end customers."
The IoT sensors developed by Nexxiot, called Globehopper, provide a large amount of data. The company has also developed a software solution to analyze the information generated. It provides the complete infrastructure with a cloud-based platform for processing the collected data. Cargo Wagon aims to optimize the service for its customers and make the supply chain more transparent. Holomek adds: "We are very interested in gaining data-based insights for planning, efficiency and sustainability. Together with features such as location-based services, shock detection and maintenance service packages, these things are the initial focus. But the project will also include metadata libraries so that customers can store important wagon data in the Nexxiot Connect Cloud."
