CeMAT to coincide with the Hannover Messe every two years from 2018

From 2018, CeMAT Hannover will be held every two years at the same time as the Hannover Messe. With around 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world, CeMAT is the leading international trade fair for a rapidly growing industry, which achieved a production volume of 20.1 billion euros in Germany alone in 2015. This growth is driven in particular by online trade and networked production. This places high demands on intralogistics: It must be intelligent, networked, highly flexible, transparent, fast and efficient. In modern production, "batch size 1" is increasingly in demand, just as every order in online retail is individual. In both cases, customers expect above all speed and falling costs. This is only possible with new concepts in the overall context of Industry 4.0 and requires close and intelligent networking of production and logistics. "Intelligent intralogistics is the backbone and enabler of Industry 4.0, which is why there are close links to the Industrial Automation and Digital Factory themes at Hannover Messe. That is why we will be organizing CeMAT alongside Hannover Messe from 2018 onwards, in order to create a unique platform for Industry 4.0. The synergies are obvious. This overall range of topics and the simultaneous presentation of future-oriented technologies at one location are unique worldwide," says Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Messe AG.

As the world's most important industrial trade fair, the Hannover Messe offers CeMAT exhibitors a business environment with around 190,000 visitors, almost one in three of whom come from abroad. CeMAT visitors come primarily from the manufacturing industry, trade and the logistics services sector. CeMAT exhibitors will provide important impetus for networked production. "Intralogistics already goes far beyond warehousing and distribution and extends into production and assembly. It is not uncommon for intralogistics to control value-added services, supply and dispose of assembly lines and make it possible for products to be available for sale during production, not just when they are booked into the warehouse. Intralogistics enables the cost-effective production of batch size 1 and thus a core element of Industry 4.0. For this reason, it is a logical step to further expand CeMAT's sharp profile and at the same time to exploit the synergies with Hannover Messe," says Dr. Christoph Beumer, Chairman of the CeMAT Executive Committee and Managing Partner and Chairman of Beumer Group GmbH & Co KG, Beckum.
CeMAT 2018 will be held from April 23 to 27 at the Hannover Exhibition Center in pavilions 32 to 35 and in the adjacent halls. "As the conceptual sponsor of CeMAT, we welcome this step. It is a forward-looking decision and a consistent focus on technological convergence in the field of Industry 4.0, with intralogistics now also being considered in the context of the topics of the Hannover Messe," says Sascha Schmel, Managing Director of the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Association.
