5th Lightweighting Summit
Lightweight construction as a technology for the resource transition
The 5th Lightweighting Summit of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) will be held on April 23, 2024 as part of the Hannover Messe. This year's congress is dedicated to the topic of "Lightweighting as a transformation technology for the resource turnaround".
The congress aims to highlight the important role of lightweight construction concepts in the transition to a resource-efficient economy. A successful resource transition aims to sustainably extract and use raw materials and then return them to the cycle. In addition to lightweight construction, the circular economy is also of central importance here. Six experts will discuss this topic as part of a panel discussion.
Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Milwich, spokesperson for the Lightweight Construction Alliance Baden-Württemberg. Dr. Anna Kleissner, Managing Director of Econmove, is currently compiling the "Lightweight Construction Satellite Account" for Germany for the BMWK in order to make the gross value added and jobs in lightweight construction more visible and tangible for politics, business and society. She will report on the current status in a keynote speech.
Five pitches on the topic of lightweight construction are new, in which various companies and research institutions present innovative R&D projects in the field of lightweight construction.
There will also be a panel discussion with participants such as Dr. Frank Schladitz, Managing Director of C3 - Carbon Concrete Composite, Dr. Maximilian Schnippering, Head of Sustainability at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, and Rolf Buschmann from BUND Netzwerk Ressourcenwende.
