Team celebrates 40th anniversary
Four decades of digitization
The Paderborn-based intralogistics software company Team celebrated its 40th anniversary and the inauguration of a building extension.
On March 30, 1982, the Paderborn IT company Team was launched in a three-room apartment. The then computer pioneer Nixdorf provided the first orders so that the newly founded company could quickly enter the growth phase and the premises became too small. After just one year, twelve employees moved to Hermann-Löns-Straße 88 in Schloß Neuhaus. Since then, this address has been the company's headquarters, where 85 employees are currently working on digitalization. They generated a turnover of ten million euros in 2021.
The early years of the company's history were characterized by the partnership with Nixdorf; the company developed powerful computer systems based on the Unix operating system and was looking for support in the area of software. This was a suitable opportunity for Team to further intensify the close partnership. So-called CIM modules (CIM = Computer Integrated Manufacturing) were developed - for example for warehouse management and production data acquisition. This was followed by a prosperous period for Team - which, however, ended with the demise of Nixdorf in 1990.
Restart with a new strategy
The restart was successful with a new strategy. Team formed a partnership with Oracle, the American global market provider for databases, and developed its own standard solutions for the market. Existing customer relationships from the Nixdorf era were continued and new ones acquired. Growth continued unabated, so that in 2002 the first building extension was necessary and could be realized.
Step by step, Team became both a leading provider of intralogistics software and one of the leading Oracle partners in Germany. The trend towards the digitalization of business processes in the context of Industry and Logistics 4.0 led to many companies investing in logistics centers and requiring modern IT systems. Team was able to assert itself on the market with its own standard solution for intralogistics, the Prostore warehouse management system, and create the basis for further growth.
The demand for qualified Oracle services also grew, enabling Team to provide companies with optimal support in licensing, Oracle database support and in the area of technologically demanding individual developments.
Natural ambience in the offices
Further growth led to the decision to expand and modernize the company building once again - despite the trend towards working from home. Finally, rooms for 20 additional workstations as well as attractive meeting and presentation areas were created. As the building is located in the immediate vicinity of the forest on Wilhelmsberg, the idea was implemented to continue the forest and green spaces in the building via large, light-flooded glass surfaces. For example, a moss-look carpet was used and wooden panels were installed in the offices to emphasize the natural ambience. The building extension was carried out in accordance with the latest energy requirements using a modern air heat pump. A good one million euros was invested in this second extension, demonstrating that the company remains loyal to the Paderborn Schloß Neuhaus site.
