"At SMM, decision-makers and experts meet colleagues from all over the world in one place over four days, saving them many weeks of business travel. Once again this year, visitors will find the green themes and suitable exhibitors in all 13 halls along the Green Route," explains Claus Ulrich Selbach, Business Unit Director Maritime and Technology Fairs at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH

Sustainability is one of the cross-cutting themes of this year's SMM - and is therefore present in all halls. An important topic at the trade fair: The possibilities of LNG as a bridging technology in shipping.

Improved LNG infrastructure in ports
While ferries and passenger ships have played a pioneering role to date, there are now also numerous orders for LNG-powered newbuilds from well-known container shipping companies. Leading manufacturers will therefore be presenting low-emission propulsion systems at the trade fair. Progress is also being made in the LNG infrastructure of ports, with more and more ports becoming "LNG-ready". In addition, shipyard companies involved in the implementation of exhaust gas purification systems (scrubbers) for conventional drive technology and corresponding system suppliers will also be represented at the trade fair. mm
