Safe and efficient solution in operations

Safety is not only the top priority for the Road Traffic Office of the Canton of Schwyz when it comes to vehicle testing. Operations, such as at the Pfäffikon test center, must also run safely and efficiently.

The office has therefore fitted the entrances and exits of the extension with a total of six EFA-SST-L Premium high-speed spiral doors from Efaflex. The Traffic Office of the Canton of Schwyz is responsible for the approval of vehicles for both road and shipping traffic. The two test centers in Pfäffikon and Einsiedeln look after 130,000 motor vehicles and 5,700 ships registered in the canton of Schwyz. Each year, 40,000 vehicle inspections are carried out at the inspection centers. A good two years after the keys were handed over for the new building in Pfäffikon, Beat Reichmuth, head of the test center and chief expert, draws a positive balance. He is more than satisfied with the operation of the Efaflex doors. In operation, they reliably meet all the requirements specified in the tender.

Fast opening and closing speeds maintain a pleasant working environment in the test hall. Vehicles enter and leave the hall around 40 times a day. The three test lanes are occupied daily in a tight time frame. Disruptions of any kind would mean missed deadlines and therefore financial losses.

Smart networked

In the meantime, Efaflex has upgraded all gates with the new EFA SmartConnect module following consultation with the transport authority. Thanks to the networking of the door systems, the operating and maintenance costs can also be optimized. With EFA-SmartConnect, Efaflex offers the IoT solution for networked gates. The associated app enables central monitoring and displays the status of all doors clearly and in real time. Based on the principle of "diagnosis - service - maintenance", faults can be avoided in good time and maintenance can be planned in advance. This minimizes downtime and reduces operating costs. One advantage in the event of a fault: users can send messages directly to Efaflex via the app. Thanks to fast transmission times, communication with the service technicians is uncomplicated.

According to the company, customer data security is guaranteed at all times. EFA-SmartConnect stores all relevant data in the local network. Only the customer decides which information is transmitted to Efaflex and when. An exchange only takes place when the data is deliberately transmitted to the service. And this is also maximally secure: By using modern end-to-end encryption, all information remains secure and confidential.

Six in one go

After a brief introduction, Beat Reichmuth and his team are able to program the peripherals of the six doors themselves using a tablet. If professional help is still needed, Efaflex sends a service technician to the site promptly and flexibly. The EFA SmartConnect app is easy to use for the employees at the Pfäffikon test center.
