Tsubaki Kabelschlepp: Energy chain series M in metal processing
Old chains out, new guides in
Tsubaki Kabelschlepp's expertise in the field of energy chain systems for cranes is currently proving its worth at a well-known metal processing company in France. In several project phases, the existing cable carriers on the overhead traveling cranes are being replaced by hybrid energy chains of type MC0650 from the M series.
These energy chains can withstand the harsh environmental conditions in the metalworking industry and are characterized by their quick and easy installation and low maintenance requirements.
According to Philippe Connesson, responsible for Technical Sales North-East and Sales Manager France at Tsubaki Kabelschlepp, the main impetus for the customer's technology change was the long service life and maintenance-free nature of the new hybrid energy chains. The effort involved is limited to an occasional visual inspection, whereas the old drum systems required regular maintenance. "The customer was immediately interested in these arguments," reports Philippe Connesson. "He was also impressed by our service and our quality products, which can withstand the harsh environmental conditions in the metalworking industry and are easy to work with."
Customized hybrid chain solutions
The hybrid energy chains used are type MC0650 RS with aluminum stays from the M series. The dismantling of the existing systems and the installation of the new technology have been in the hands of Actemium Levage, a specialist in the maintenance and refurbishment of crane systems based in Héricourt, France, since the start of the project.
The RS aluminium stays are suitable for light to medium loads and are available in customized one-millimetre width increments up to an internal width of 800 millimetres. They can be fitted with a simple wrench and enable the energy chains to be opened and closed quickly, as they can be easily released on the outside and inside by turning them 90 degrees. Thanks to their robust link plate design, the side straps are stable and can also be easily assembled thanks to the use of easy-to-fit locking bolts. Further advantages are offered by the encapsulated, dirt-resistant stop system and the cup-and-cover principle of the chains, which minimizes joint wear and thus improves service life.
