The year 1969: From stepchild to star. At the end of the 1950s, material flow was considered the stepchild of production, and it was only later that the realization that time and money spent in the warehouse could also be optimized prevailed. As a supplement to the trade journal "Produktion", moderne industrie publikationsgesellschaft published the first issue of "Materialfluß - Zeitschrift für Transport, Lager und Verpackung" in October 1969 under the leadership of publisher Wolfgang Dummer and editor-in-chief Hermann Selzle in Munich. The subscription price at that time was 48 marks, the single issue cost 5 marks. Journalistic quality was important from day one: "Only send exclusive manuscripts" was clearly stated in the masthead.
