Krone supports charity bike tour with 10,000 euros
Bernard Krone presented a donation cheque for 10,000 euros from the Dr. Bernard Krone Foundation to Ludger Abeln, NDR presenter and initiator of the Caritas charity bike tour "Time to help - 1000 km against Corona". Caritas (Diocese of Osnabrück) will use the money to support people whose livelihoods are at risk in a variety of ways due to the coronavirus pandemic, such as families with children and low incomes, homeless people, single parents, pensioners on a tight budget and people affected by short-time working or unemployment due to the epidemic.
"It is both wonderful and remarkable that there are people like you who turn their ideas into action and help to support those in need with their social commitment, thereby also giving a little hope at the same time. We are very happy to support this commitment." - With these words, Bernard Krone welcomed Ludger Abeln to the Krone site in Spelle.
After a short stopover - including refreshments and fruit - Ludger Abeln set off again, as he still has almost 1,000 km to cycle this week. Starting today, his charity tour will take him through Emsland, the county of Bentheim, the districts of Diepholz and Nienburg on the left bank of the Weser, through the city and district of Osnabrück and also through East Frisia.
Over the past few weeks, the Krone Foundation has distributed a total of 200,000 euros to various regional organizations, such as the Bonifatius Hospital Lingen, the Spelle retirement home and dementia and hospice groups.
