TTI Europe saves time with ProGlove

The glove scanner from ProGlove has been in use at TTI Europe in Maisach near Munich since 2016. Overall, the time saved due to the elimination of gripping times is well over ten hours per day.

TTI Europe became aware of ProGlove in 2016: "I heard about the smart glove scanner on a radio report on my way to work," explains Michaela Fritz, Director Business Solution. "The solution made sense as soon as I heard it because it addressed many of our challenges. So I took a closer look at the offer in the office, discussed it with our IT department and then immediately sent an email to ProGlove."

Until then, TTI had relied on conventional mobile scanners. The scanners first had to be picked up before each work step and then put down again. In addition, no satisfactory solution could be found for certain areas. Take the lean lifts, for example. Here, employees operate up to four lifts per order. This requires a degree of flexibility that cannot be guaranteed with conventional mobile scanners. In addition, the quality of the mobile scanners was usually unconvincing because they were not designed for rough use in the warehouse and often quickly suffered irreparable damage.

Robust design
The robust industrial design of the ProGlove glove scanners withstood the demanding environment and was also compatible with the overall situation in the warehouse. Depending on their personal preference, employees always wear their scanner on a glove or cuff. If required, they can trigger it at the touch of a button and also log on to a new workstation without much effort via the access point and an encrypted wireless connection or via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This not only keeps their hands free at all times, but also eliminates the gripping times and restrictions of the old systems.

10 hours a day saved
The project began with a ProGlove test installation, which quickly met with the approval of the employees. The other terminals were then gradually equipped with ProGlove. There are now 150 ProGlove systems in use at TTI Europe in the warehouse and in dispatch. The project has quickly paid for itself: Given the 8,000 items to be scanned, the time saved is likely to be well over 10 hours per day.

"ProGlove has paid for itself incredibly quickly," says Michaela Fritz with satisfaction. "The device is also easy to handle, reliable in use and, above all, more durable than many conventional mobile solutions, which we often had to replace after just six months."
