Due to the ever-increasing expansion of the product range and a changed article structure, the storage capacities of the music distributor jpc were no longer sufficient. The tower picking system introduced by Pierau Unternehmensberatung in 2007 also had hardly any capacity reserves. In mid-2015, work began on the extension directly adjacent to the existing warehouse, which was put into operation at the end of the year. "The primary goal was to make the warehouse space as flexible as possible. We therefore created a concept with a classic warehouse platform," reports Arne Pierau, Managing Partner at Pierau Planung. In the first phase, this was only designed on one level. At the same time, measures were taken to accommodate a second floor at a later stage. Various technical options were compared in order to produce packaging on demand for certain consignments. "We want to implement these options with Pierau Planung in a follow-up project," says Michael Richter, authorized signatory and IT manager at jpc. The space for this has already been reserved in the current hall extension.
