Insight thanks to data glasses
Picavi's Glass Enterprise Edition 2 data glasses are a revised Google product designed to take assisted picking to a new level using wearable data processing. The glasses upgrade is intended to enable greater performance and improve energy balance and compatibility, among other things. Picavi is one of 16 global partners of Glass. Interested parties can experience the model live at transport logistic in Munich.
Fast processor, long-lasting battery
The Glass Enterprise Edition 2 has a number of technical innovations: A Qualcomm quad processor provides more power, and the Android 8.1 operating system, also known as Android Oreo, is also used. This should not only make the glasses work faster, but also ensure a longer battery life. Connectivity has also been improved thanks to the highest possible standards in transmission technology. Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is also part of the Android open source platform.
Reduce error rates
"With Glass Enterprise Edition 2, we are launching state-of-the-art data glasses on the market that are tailored to the specific requirements of logistics users: fast, flexible and ergonomic picking processes with maximum transparency and the lowest possible error rate. Our selected partners such as Picavi, whose comprehensive intralogistics and wearables expertise is incorporated into the further development of our products, also support us in this," says Jay Kothari from the project management team at Glass.
Reduce training times
The American third-party logistics (3PL) provider Neovia Logistics Services, based in Greenwood, Indiana, is one of the first users of the new model. Neovia started using ten smart glasses in late summer 2018 and was able to reduce the training and ramp-up time for newly hired employees by up to 60 percent and increase efficiency in the picking process by eight to ten percent. Neovia has therefore ordered 85 Glass Enterprise Edition 2 models for the end of May.
