Intra Logistik asks: Is intralogistics in lockdown?
Is it in a deep sleep or in a general state of shock? The fact is that the industry seems to be quiet - too quiet in my opinion. There is less news about new products, innovations, projects that have been won, plants that have gone into operation, market competitors that have been taken over or new managers; press events, trade fairs, congresses and customer events don't take place at all or only online. Now you're probably thinking: Has the little one been banned from watching TV for eleven months? Has mom unplugged her WLAN? Or has Congstar turned off the juice? Maybe you've heard of corona?
Intralogistics users are shifting their future
Yes, they have. And pulling the covers over your head in these times is the most natural of all reactions. Many intralogistics users are only investing in what is absolutely necessary at the moment and are postponing their future because nobody wants to interpret the future or even trust it in these times. In 2020, in addition to the virus, our economy has taken the right to weaken after an upward trend of around ten years - every company that somehow depends on cars with combustion engines can sing a songbook about it.
Talk so loudly that it can be heard beyond the industry
But not everything is weakening, some sectors are booming, and we should talk about that too. And: isn't intralogistics "the enabler" for all kinds of things, as the VDMA has always written in its prayer book? In any case, it is now time to remember what intralogistics can, does and enables. For example, the ability to deliver and the healthy growth of companies. Even in coronavirus times. And we should talk about it. Even loudly - so loudly that it can be heard beyond our industry.
