Final summary of the Hannover Messe 2023
A win-win-win trade fair for everyone
Exhibitors and organizers of Hannover Messe 2023 draw a consistently positive conclusion from this year's event. 130,000 visitors came to Hannover, 43% of them from abroad. In addition, 15,000 registered visitors took part digitally.
The core topics at this year's Hannover Messe included artificial intelligence, hydrogen, energy management, networked and intelligent production and the new Manufacturing-X data ecosystem. "There is a spirit of optimism in the halls of Hannover Messe," said Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe, at the closing press conference. "The high expectations of the exhibiting companies and visitors were exceeded." More than 4,000 exhibitors presented their solutions for a digital, networked and sustainable industry and met 130,000 visitors from all over the world in Hanover. "The past five days of the trade fair have shown that The technologies for competitive and climate-neutral industrial production are available - now we need speed and determination in their implementation," said Köckler.
Climate protection needs industry
At the same time, it would become clear that climate protection needs industry. As a supplier and user of technologies that enableCO2-neutral production. Köckler: "The Hannover Messe is the global platform for exchange between industry, politics, science and society. And it has never been more important than today to exchange ideas. The technological solutions for climate-neutral production are here! However, in order to secure the competitiveness of the industry and our prosperity in the long term, bureaucratic obstacles must be removed quickly, opportunities must be promoted and cross-border cooperation must be established." The international response was correspondingly high. 43% of visitors came from abroad to find out how they can make their production fit for the future. The top visitor countries after Germany were the Netherlands, China, Korea, Poland and the USA.
"The industrial transformation could be experienced live in the exhibition halls," continued Köckler. There were high-end products from industry for climate-neutral production, new hydrogen technologies, inspiring impulses from start-ups for networked production processes, robots that can be operated by voice using AI, solutions for efficient energy management and the launch of the new Manufacturing-X data ecosystem, which is intended to pave the way for digital business models, especially for medium-sized industrial companies.
Electrification, digitalization and automation
ZVEI President and Chairman of the Hannover Messe Exhibitors' Advisory Board Dr. Gunther Kegel drew the following conclusion from the exhibiting companies' perspective: "Electrification, digitalization and automation: these are the three trends that have left their mark on this year's Hannover Messe and that lead to solutions such as effective climate protection. The interplay of these trends also shows that the energy transition must also be an energy efficiency transition. The trade fair confirms our optimism for the electrical and digital industry and our forecast increase to 1 to 2 percent real production growth for this year. At the beginning of the year, we were still only expecting a sideways movement at a high level. Our industry is on the upswing."
"Climate protection and sustainability are now at the top of the agenda for industry around the world. In order to achieve the desired climate neutrality, new, intelligent technologies and solutions are needed for resource-saving and efficient production across all areas of life," said Thilo Brodtmann, VDMA Executive Director. "Here at the Hannover Messe in particular, we have sensed the great interest shown by customers in the solutions that the mechanical and plant engineering sector has to offer. That's why this year's trade fair was a complete success for our industry and an important sign that the major challenges of our time can be solved with intelligent and networked production."
Win-win-win trade fair
Köckler: "For the exhibiting companies, the Hannover Messe is a win-win-win trade fair: They meet visitors from all over the world. They benefit from doing business with the other 4,000 exhibitors and they have access to more political decision-makers and delegations than at any other trade fair."
More than 100 political delegations from more than 50 countries visited the Hannover Messe this year. First and foremost, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and German Economics Minister Robert Habeck, who spent the entire Tuesday in the halls. Representatives of European politics from Brussels were more strongly represented than ever before. Other delegations came from all over Europe, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, Japan, China, the USA and India. The partner country Indonesia presented itself as a highly attractive and dynamic location for investment and partnerships.
In addition to the 130,000 visitors on the exhibition grounds, the trade fair counted a further 15,000 registered visitors who took part in the event digitally. They followed the conference program, informed themselves in digital product presentations and took part in hybrid visitor tours.
The next Hannover Messe will be held from April 22 to 26, 2024.
