Editorial materialfluss 6/2018

First talk, then act

You probably know the old saying: you can be part of the solution or part of the problem. Even intralogistics, which is dedicated to "hands-on" management, to getting things done and delivering them, is not always 100 percent on the side of the problem solver. For example, when it comes to trade fairs: we all know that CeMAT didn't work, and there was a lot of mockery and outrage before, during and after the trade fair. But will all those who know better now help with ideas and input on how Hanover can once again become the hub of intralogistics in two years' time? The column by Intra Logistik in materialfluss 5/18 ("An obituary", also available here) and the editorial on the same topic have met with approval. But now we turn to the solution: the dialog is open, April has been ticked off and the question has been formulated: "What is the best way to integrate the key sector of intralogistics into the Hannover Messe environment?" We will be presenting the first ideas for discussion in our trade medium for intralogistics later this year.

There is good news in terms of personnel at materialfluss: Marvin Meyke (26) started a traineeship at the specialist publisher WEKA BUSINESS MEDIEN at the beginning of May after successfully completing his degree in industrial engineering in Augsburg. Meyke writes for our specialist media materialfluss and LT-manager. You can reach him in the editorial office in Haar near Munich. A warm welcome!

"Will all those who know better now also help with ideas and input on how to do things better?"

The next issue of materialfluss will be a special SPEKTRUM issue focusing on products, services and concepts for perfect intralogistics in e-commerce and will be published on July 20. Until then, I wish you a great summer, with lots of soccer (if you want) and a long stay in Russia with your favorite team at the World Cup.

Kind regards, Yours

Martin Schrüfer,
ManagingEditor-in-Chief
