Editorial: Virtual and good
According to the usual understanding, the word virtual also means "possibly existing". Beloved German language! So something is present and possible, but not yet real, only virtual. It is also exciting that the Latin word virtus is part of virtuell, as it means virtue, bravery or efficiency, among other things. Whether this applies to visitors, exhibitors and trade fair organizers at the upcoming virtual trade fair materialfluss WORLD + CONFERENCE, I leave it to you to decide.
The fact is that these trade fairs are new territory for many of those involved. You try things out, learn a lot of new things in advance and gain new insights afterwards. That's wonderful. After all, if there is one good thing that can be said about the corona chaos later on, it is that we have all received a more or less powerful kick in the butt in the direction of digitalization. The technical possibilities were already there, but, hand on heart, who hasn't laughed at a trade fair visitor wearing VR glasses and twitching strangely robotically at LogiMAT? Who has preferred an invitation to a virtual meeting to a real meeting and instead surrendered to the travel madness of the business world?
Now the trade fair is history, perhaps only temporarily, but perhaps for much longer? I cordially invite you to get in touch with the materialfluss team at the WORLD + CONFERENCE, to exhibit there, to find out more or to give a presentation. The conclusion of the reader poll for the materialfluss PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR was very pleasing: In the end, we counted almost 10,000 votes cast - many thanks to everyone who took part.
