DGUV-certified
E-learning course "Dangers and effects of electricity"
The "Electrical Safety" team at WEKA MEDIA has developed an e-learning course especially for trainees. This electronic course is entitled "Dangers and effects of electricity". The team has now scored a success with its course: The Institute for Work and Health of the DGUV (IAG) has tested and certified the new e-learning course.
Trainee electricians work in a sensitive area, which is why they need to be aware of the dangers and effects of electric current right from the start. An electrical accident can be life-threatening. This is where the e-learning course comes into play: trainees learn about the dangers and effects and how to put safety first. The course is mainly aimed at electrical trainees. However, as it does not require any prior knowledge, it is also suitable for other young people who work with electricity.
Apprentice David and trainer Tom guide the apprentices through the company. The trainer conveys this learning content:
- Effects of electric current: thermal effect, light effect, electromagnetic effect, physiological effect
- Dangers of electric current: body current, threshold values, electric arcs
- Personal protective equipment: What PPE is available and when must it be worn?
- The 5 safety rules
Keyword gamification: learning with fun
The target group of young people play computer games and are used to fun and variety on the screen. This e-learning therefore relies on interactive elements: quizzes, math problems or estimations. Learners are actively involved in what is happening and help to shape the course themselves.
The developers of the course believe that learning while having fun promotes the achievement of the learning objective: Working confidently from day one.
DGUV certification received
The e-learning course "Hazards and effects of electricity" has now been certified by the DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance) testing and certification body. This means that the course is officially a certified blended learning program in occupational safety. At the end of the "Hazards and effects of electricity" course, learners have to pass a comprehension test. Once they have passed the test, they can print out a certificate of attendance: this also provides the trainer with proof of successful participation.
There are also these two checklists for trainers: "Integrating trainees into the company with legal certainty" and "Safety instructions for trainees".
