Bitkom's Head of Industrial Internet moves to ROI
Wolfgang Dorst, previously Head of Industrial Internet at Bitkom e.V., joined ROI Management Consulting AG as Director Business Development Industry 4.0 on January 1. With more than 2,500 member companies, Bitkom is by far the most important association of the digital economy in Germany.
Wolfgang Dorst has been responsible for the development of Bitkom's Industry 4.0 strategy in recent years. In addition to his role as Head of Industrial Internet, he represented Bitkom as a technical expert in the German government's Industry 4.0 platform and at European and federal level. Wolfgang Dorst was previously one of the initiators of the cooperation between the associations Bitkom, VDMA and ZVEI in the field of Industry 4.0 and was a member of various committees that dealt with topics relating to the Internet of Things on behalf of the German government.
Wolfgang Dorst has more than 30 years of experience in the IT and communications market. After training as a precision mechanic and studying electrical engineering, he worked in positions of responsibility at the interfaces between the public and private sectors as well as in industry, including for companies such as Oracle and Cisco Systems.
"I am convinced that we are only at the beginning of the Internet of Things. The major innovations, the truly paradigmatic changes, are only just beginning to emerge. Accompanying this development and helping companies and public organizations to leverage the potential of the digital transformation is something I consider to be an incredibly exciting task. I share this enthusiasm with the ROI team," says Wolfgang Dorst.
"There are only a few experts in Germany who have such a comprehensive knowledge and network on the topic of Industry 4.0 as Wolfgang Dorst, who also knows both the entrepreneurial perspective and the perspective of political decision-makers very well. We are delighted to welcome him to our team," comments ROI CEO Hans-Georg Scheibe. red
