Reaction to the war in Ukraine
Shipping company Maersk stops container traffic to Russia
Container shipping company Maersk is reacting to the sanctions against Russia. The company is suspending sailings to and from all Russian ports.
A statement from the major shipping company reads: "We at A.P. Moller - Maersk are very concerned about the further escalation of the crisis in Ukraine. Against this background, we now see a clear need to introduce new processes for the acceptance and processing of bookings and to revise existing ones.
As the stability and security of our operations are already directly and indirectly affected by the sanctions, new Maersk bookings on sea, air and intercontinental rail services to and from Russia are temporarily suspended, with the exception of food, medical and humanitarian goods (excluding dual-use goods).
This exception is to emphasize that our company is focused on its social responsibility and strives to support society despite all the complications and uncertainties within the current supply chain to and from Russia. The suspension will begin today and will cover all Russian gateway ports."
