Logistics service providers: Vodafone and Loxxess extend cooperation

The logistics for Vodafone's cable business in Germany will continue to be handled by Loxxess, a service provider specializing in media logistics, among other things.

Loxxess has long been an integral part of Vodafone's logistics and returns processing with its comprehensive value-added services. The contract was extended on a long-term basis in January 2017. Loxxess AG, which is based in Unterföhring, has been responsible for Vodafone's cable logistics since 2012. Vodafone Germany is one of the leading integrated telecommunications companies and also the largest TV provider in Germany. The range of items to be handled and the tasks involved in logistics processing are correspondingly broad and varied. Loxxess operates a logistics center for mail order and media logistics with approx. 70,000 square meters of warehouse space in Bor, Czech Republic, near the German border. Here, the owner-managed company processes around two million orders per year for Vodafone.

Martin Schmidt, Head of Logistics and Enablers at Vodafone, commented on the contract extension as follows: "Our high demands on logistics, which are very diverse for us, are very well covered by Loxxess. The cooperation has proven itself over many years and we are highly satisfied with the service, especially with the flexibility and efficiency that are important in our business."

Comprehensive services

Specifically, the logistics service provider takes care of the storage of technical devices such as modems, receivers, WLAN sticks and accessories such as cables, remote controls and multimedia boxes in high-bay racking. Smartcards are stored in a separate security warehouse. The team picks orders for both end customers and service technicians. At the same time, incoming returns are processed and booked. Loxxess tests the devices and refurbishes them for further use. Every year, around 900,000 Vodafone devices and accessories undergo functional tests at the Loxxess media logistics center. The partners have agreed service levels for all processes, which are continuously measured.

Dynamics are crucial

Vodafone expects further growth, especially in the cable business, for which Loxxess is well prepared at the Bor site with its specialized media logistics center. The future viability of Loxxess solutions is also emphasized by CEO Dr. Claus-Peter Amberger: "Today, we can only really meet customer requirements if we are able to adapt dynamically and flexibly to changes and growth. In addition to its indispensable expertise, this is a major advantage of Loxxess, which also benefits Vodafone's cable business in Germany."
