Silo transport on the road
Rhenus acquires Nederlandse Transport Maatschappij
The Rhenus Group took over the silo transportation service provider Nederlandse Transport Maatschappij B.V. (NTM), which is based in Hardenberg in the Netherlands, at the turn of the year. The internationally active logistics service provider has thus expanded its expertise in the silo transportation of free-flowing and powdery goods.
NTM has several locations on the German-Dutch border and offers cross-border services in Europe. Founded in the 1970s, the transport service provider became part of the German Sievert Logistik Group in 2010. Its transport services range from building material products to sensitive GMP and chemical products, minerals and plastic granulates. Additional value-added services such as warehousing, order picking, quality control, filling and decanting of big bags and packaging solutions complete the logistics provider's range of services.
"We're delighted to be expanding our expertise and services in the silo sector by taking over NTM, especially for our customers in the construction industry and suppliers of GMP and petrochemical products, industrial minerals and wood pellets," says Heiner Höfkes, Managing Director of Rhenus Port Road. NTM will continue to exist as a separate company within the Rhenus Group under Managing Director Henk Batterink. "The cooperation is a win-win situation for us: thanks to Rhenus' extensive network, our sphere of activity in Europe will increase and we will also be able to scale up the business with the help of the many years of experience of our existing workforce," says Henk Batterink.
