REC Group and Hellmann extend contract
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Netherlands and the leading European brand for photovoltaic (PV) solar modules REC Group (REC) have extended their cooperation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for another three years until 2021.
REC is a global provider of solar energy solutions with headquarters in Norway and operational headquarters in Singapore. By the end of 2017, REC had produced more than 30 million panels, with a capacity of 7.6 GW of clean, green energy. Hellmann and REC have been working together since 2013 as part of a long-term partnership that covers Hellmann's entire service portfolio - from ocean freight, warehousing and warehouse management, distribution and fiscal representation to innovative IOT tools along the entire supply chain. Hellmann provides its services for REC from the European Control Tower in Rotterdam. With a storage area of around 40,000 m² and more than 100 FTL / FCL handling operations per day, the Rotterdam Control Tower is the largest of four global logistics hubs from which Hellmann exclusively serves customers from the renewable energy sector. The other Control Towers are located in Dubai, Shanghai and New York.
"Hellmann understood the needs of the solar industry, the dynamics of our business and the impact on supply chain management. We could always rely on the quality of their services, which is invaluable in our day-to-day business. We are therefore very pleased to continue to have Hellmann at our side as a logistics service provider," says Tan Song Lian, Senior Logistics Manager of REC Group.
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is one of the world's leading logistics service providers for the solar industry and has grown continuously in this area. In recent years, the Osnabrück-based company has developed a tailor-made logistics model for the solar industry, supported by a modern IT infrastructure and a synchronized global value-added services portfolio.
"The solar industry is a very important sector for Hellmann. In order to continue to grow in this area, we have built up a first-class global service network with the Control Towers in recent years. In the individual HUBs, we bundle all logistics services that are in demand from the industry," says Robert Bommers, Chief Operating Officer Contract Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
