Obstacles to innovation
Fear of change is slowing down digitalization in logistics
Cologne, 03.09.2018 - The Cologne-based agency Get to the Point has investigated obstacles to innovation in the logistics sector. The result of the study: fear of change is one of the biggest obstacles to implementing digital processes and business models in many logistics companies. The Cologne-based agency for positioning and branding Get the Point has now shed light on the reasons for this great hesitation and procrastination in a white paper.
"The power of psychology not only determines stock market values. It also has a significant influence on the willingness to say goodbye to old patterns of thought and action and to break new ground with your company. It is German fear that is slowing down the pace of digitalization in the industry," says Clemens Meiß , Managing Partner of Get the Point.
A study conducted by the German Logistics Association (BVL) in 2017 already showed that the industry is very reluctant when it comes to digitalization. Almost 50 percent of the logistics service providers surveyed stated that they had no plans to digitize and just 3.3 percent said that they had comprehensively transformed their business model digitally. According to Meiß, it is primarily the psychology of change that has a direct influence on the pace of change in the industry. Fear and courage would determine whether the digital transformation in logistics companies succeeds or fails. mm
