Logistics service provider
Group7 builds in Hamburg
The logistics service provider Group7 is building in Hamburg. At 26,000 square meters, the planned new building is one of the two largest logistics developments in Hamburg in the last 15 months, according to BNP Paribas Real Estate.
"I am very pleased that we are able to build a new logistics center near the port. After Munich, Neuss and Frankfurt, Hamburg is now the fourth important logistics location among our nine branches throughout Germany," comments GroupP7 CEO Günther Jocher on this success.
36 million euro investment
The planned Group7 logistics center will be located on a site area of 40,000 square meters. According to the logistics service provider, it is investing 36 million euros in the site and the new logistics building. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of business development agency Hamburg Invest, explains why Group7 won the highly competitive property: "We are delighted that Group7, an owner-managed company, was the right candidate for the property. Group7 operates versatile and high-quality value-added service logistics and will create 200 new jobs for the region with the construction of the logistics center. Group7's sustainability strategy was a key factor in the decision, as all Group7 logistics centers have been awarded gold according to DGNB standards."
Short distances to the port and highway
The site in Hamburg Billbrook is 13 kilometers from the port of Hamburg, 16 kilometers from the airport, six minutes from the A1 freeway junction Hamburg-Moorfleet and one kilometer from the S-Bahn station Billwerder Moorfleet. The new logistics building is intended to complement the Hamburg branch that has existed since 2006. In addition to warehousing and order picking work, the new building will primarily provide logistics services such as set and display construction, assembly work, refurbishment and repair work, aerospace logistics and fulfillment services for cross-border e-commerce.
Useful life of 50 years planned
The logistics property is to have a useful life of 50 years. As the owner-occupier of this property, Jocher also has his children Julia and Daniel in mind. Both are already integrated into the family business and will take over the operational business in ten years at the latest. Jocher is realistic about the start of construction work: "I expect that we will be able to move the first cubic meters of earth here at the beginning of 2021."
