Ubimax, a leader in fully integrated industrial augmented reality-based wearable computing solutions, today announces the expansion of its advisory board. Thomas Alt is now a member of Ubimax's Strategic Senior Advisory Board. His many years of experience in the AR market make him the perfect addition to the high-caliber board. The board already includes recognized industry experts such as the developer of Google Glass Prof. Thad Starner (Georgia Tech University), logistics and wearable computing expert Prof. Michael Lawo (University of Bremen) as well as the Head of Research for Embedded Intelligence at DFKI Prof. Paul Lukowicz, Kevin Dillon (former VP Microsoft EMEA) and Court Westcott (Westcott LLC).
As the founder and former owner of the technology company metaio, Thomas Alt has extensive expertise in the establishment and development of up-and-coming tech companies, particularly from an entrepreneurial perspective. In 2015, Thomas Alt sold his Munich-based digital company to Apple. He then worked for Apple in the area of mergers and acquisitions, including as Director of Strategic Deals. Since 2018, Thomas Alt has been a Venture Partner at the American growth equity company Atlantic Bridge, which invests in promising tech companies such as Ubimax and the former metaio. Now, his expertise in corporate development and growth strategy will help Ubimax to establish and expand in the highly topical and innovative business area of digitalization and Industry 4.0.
According to IDC, the AR market and total spending on AR and VR products and services is set to rise to almost 215 billion US dollars by 2021 and therefore offers huge potential for the future. "With Ubimax Frontline, Ubimax has a very mature product that holistically improves working conditions for the mobile, industrial workforce, similar to the Microsoft Office approach in the office context," says Thomas Alt. "The Ubimax solutions are the perfect fit for the market and have already won over many renowned customers. I look forward to achieving the next goals together with the team."
Dr. Hendrik Witt, Ubimax CEO, comments on the appointment to the Advisory Board as follows: "I am thrilled to have Thomas on board. He brings a lot of valuable experience and is also a clear personal asset. We share the same vision - to shape the future with AR - and I am sure that we can only benefit from his input. The close exchange gives us a tailwind for future projects."
