Hyster offers a new driver assistance system for forklift trucks. Reaction improves the proper operation of forklift trucks.
The solution adapts the truck's performance in real time to the status, location and operating conditions of the vehicle. The driver remains in control of the truck. Depending on the location, device-specific limits or proximity to obstacles or pedestrians, a range of power controls proactively adjusts the truck's performance. Proximity sensors on the forklift truck ensure that the speed is automatically limited when pedestrians or vehicles approach or when location-specific rules must be observed.
For power control, local or real-time localization technologies detect vehicles, pedestrians and beacons via tags. Object detection with lidar technology also detects obstacles in the route that are not linked to proximity transponders. The hydraulic function control continuously collects data from the various detection technologies and adjusts the power depending on the driving speed and acceleration. These inputs are also used to adjust the hydraulic functions such as lifting, lowering and tilting. This improves the stability of the load. The risk of tipping or slipping is reduced. The control system includes overload protection. It prevents drivers from moving loads that exceed the specified weight limits. Dynamic driver warnings ensure that the system noticeably reduces power for the driver and issues visual and audible warnings as soon as it detects a pedestrian or obstacle on the road, a location-dependent speed limit or any other situation. Hyster Reaction is available for selected Hyster forklift trucks and warehouse trucks.
