Optimize electricity consumption in-house

Fronius Perfect Charging offers a new tool for intralogistics to optimize power consumption. With the "Load Balancing" function of the Charge & Connect software solution, fleet managers can reduce power peaks when charging lead-acid batteries and thus lower their energy costs.

Power peaks are a cost driver. They occur when many consumers draw electricity at the same time - for example, when several lead-acid batteries of the electric forklift fleet are charged at the same time. This short-term heavy load on the grid can lead to the agreed power quota being exceeded, resulting in additional payments and higher grid provision charges. Fronius Perfect Charging has developed a solution for this: The "Load Balancing" function of the Charge & Connect networking software offers the option of smoothing load peaks when charging lead-acid traction batteries. This prevents short-term overloads and reduces energy costs. The availability of the fleet is guaranteed.

"Load smoothing runs automatically - thanks to our intelligent charging algorithm. As soon as the function is activated in the Charge & Connect portal, the fleet operator can set parameters such as shift model and battery availability requirements," explains Andreas Prielinger, Head of R&D, Perfect Charging business unit. "The unique thing about this is that there are hardly any comparable solutions on the market for lead-acid batteries and this one is second to none," he continues.

The software analyzes the charging process and defines the optimum charging strategy - be it stretches, staggered charging or a combination of both. This means that the required number of fully charged batteries is available at all times without generating heavy power peaks. Another major advantage is that charging can be individually adapted to requirements and additional charging stations or rooms can be flexibly expanded.
