New lithium-ion options
Counterbalance trucks: Hyster expands 3- and 4-wheel series
Hyster is expanding its range of lithium-ion counterbalance trucks with several models, including new 4-wheel forklifts from the UTL series and 3-wheel forklifts from the UTTL series.
"Buyers benefit from the advantages of lithium-ion batteries on a straightforward forklift truck with up to 3.5 tons of load capacity and a reach of up to six meters," says Robert O'Donoghue, Vice President Marketing and Product Solutions, EMEA at Hyster. "In addition, these zero-emission trucks are easy to maintain, offer a low total cost of ownership and are supported by one of the strongest forklift dealer networks in the market. This keeps industrial operations running."
Intermediate charging possible during breaks
The new models include the J1.6-2.0UTTL and J1.5-3.5UTL series, available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. All models are equipped with lithium-ion batteries. These are installed in a battery box under the seat of the trucks.
"Most models are fully charged in around two and a half hours. This provides responsive performance, constant lifting power and a travel speed of up to 16 km/h," says O'Donoghue. "The batteries can be recharged during breaks. This means they meet all the requirements of the respective application, even in multi-shift operation."
Quick-charging function: no need to change the battery
According to the company, the new forklift trucks are ideal for stacking and transporting goods in shipyards, storage areas or at loading ramps in various indoor and outdoor manufacturing and material handling processes. Cleaning and drainage are no longer required, which should reduce maintenance time.
In addition, space-consuming battery charging and changing stations are not necessary. According to the manufacturer, fast charging also has no negative impact on the battery's service life. The factory-fitted lithium-ion battery is guaranteed for 5 years or 7,500 operating hours as standard. If necessary, the battery box can be replaced during the truck's life cycle, for example with a lead-acid battery.
"The new models once again show how Hyster is exploiting possibilities. The lithium-ion trucks are extremely reliable. They are easy to operate, easy to maintain and meet local emissions standards. In this way, they support companies in their sustainability goals," says O'Donoghue. "Thanks to Hyster's strong dealer network, customers can rest assured that service and parts are available for any units that require immediate repair and that the warranty is fully covered."
