Guinness World Record
69 seconds! Fastest forklift wheel change in the world
Apprentices from Linde Material Handling managed to set a world record for the fastest wheel change on a forklift truck - it took them just 69 seconds.
"Like many good ideas, the idea actually came about by chance. But suddenly an incredible dynamic developed. During the rehearsals, the energy was almost tangible and more and more good ideas made the whole thing really come together!" says Martin Stadtmüller, Product Manager Central Europe Linde Material Handling and team coordinator. The previous record was one minute and 50 seconds - the eight "mechanics" and their forklift driver only needed 69 seconds. "It was totally exciting!" says Jochen Berger, a third-year customer service apprentice.
"The sight of the judge with her tape measure and stopwatch released a lot of adrenaline! Unlike in training, we all had to start behind a line and run up to the forklift first, in our suits and helmets - we really felt like we were in Formula 1!" In the StaplerCup arena, watched by numerous spectators and the Guinness judge, the trainees held their nerve and broke the previous record. "We are very proud of our world record holders," summarizes Marc Wehner, Senior Vice President Central Europe. "We were very happy to support the idea in all areas right from the start; trainees with such creativity and commitment are the best investment in the future for any employer."
