Forklift attachments

Strong forks, gentle on the glass

Wherever a million pallets of glass are loaded every year, robust and at the same time "gentle" loading equipment is required - as at Saint-Gobain Oberland in Bad Wurzach. The glass manufacturer relies on forklift truck attachments from Meyer in Salzgitter.

Strong forks, gentle on the glass

Saint-Gobain Oberland produces bottles and jars for the food and beverage industry all year round. The warehouses in Bad Wurzach are filled around the clock and production runs continuously. Goods are received and dispatched in three and two shifts. Around 500,000 pallets leave the warehouse every year. When lifting and loading the weighty but sensitive stored goods, it is particularly important that the forks run smoothly. With the 4/2 multi-pallet fork from Meyer, the pallets with glass are transported efficiently and smoothly.

Dispatch manager Harry Schmehl coordinates one million pallets at SaintGobain Oberland AG's Bad Wurzach site and is responsible for effective materials management. "The devices are in constant use. Any failure disrupts the entire production process. That's why it's not just the reliability of the 'load donkeys' that counts," says the dispatch manager, adding: "Our Meyer equipment runs smoothly even under heavy loads, the fragile product is in good hands - or on good forks."

Fragile cargo, transported safely

Its forklifts run with Meyer 2/1 pallet forks of type 65206N and 4/2 pallet forks of type 65409N.

"Picking up four pallets with one lift and moving them without any breakage only works with particularly powerful and sophisticated attachments," emphasizes Schmehl. The pallet forks are also characterized by their long service life. This is ensured by the auto-lubrication system, among other things. Thanks to their sophisticated attachment geometry, they offer good visibility for the driver even in difficult loading positions.

Multi-pallet fork

With permanent lubrication: Generation G multi-pallet forks

In 1984, Meyer invented the world's first multi-pallet fork, setting a standard that characterizes modern bulk goods handling today. With the new Generation G multi-pallet forks, Meyer is presenting a series of 2/1 and 3/2/1 pallet forks in 2015 that has been further improved in detail. In addition to a significant reduction in tare weight, the clear view has been further optimized. The further development of the patented permanent lubrication system minimizes the number of components required and also works with conventional lubricants. This reduces operating costs.

Because maintenance is coordinated with the intervals of the forklifts, there is no unplanned downtime or costs. "Short delivery times are particularly important for our customers. For us, this is associated with a high stock turnover. This is where the 2/1 and 4/2 pallet forks prove their worth," summarizes Schmehl.
