H+H expands conveyor technology at extrusion plant
The Italian extrusion plant Pandolfo Alluminio wants to expand its capacities and increase throughput. H+H Herrmann + Hieber was already responsible for the planning and installation of the logistics facilities 15 years ago and has now been commissioned again. In 2001, H+H implemented a fully automated material flow at Pandolfo, in which the production of four presses can be flexibly distributed to the oven systems, the intermediate storage areas and the packing stations. The goods intended for further processing in an external branch plant are also discharged automatically. In addition to extensive floor conveyor technology and handling equipment, five automatic cranes were installed for this purpose. In order to significantly increase production, the logistics system now needs to be adapted without any major changes to the installed logistics concept. H+H takes on this task and plans a series of different individual measures that affect both the control system and the mechanics.
